OTHER EVENTS WE SUPPORT
Beginning in 2001, with the election of Mark Warner for Governor, Democrats have been winning
critical elections to once again move Virginia and our country forward. This year, Democrats in Virginian
once again will be asked to work together to continue Democratic dominance of the Governor’s
mansion, gain the Lt. Governor and Attorney General seats, and to try to take control of the House of
Delegates. Norfolk’s constitutional officers (except for the Clerk of the Court) also have elections. The
stakes couldn't be higher this year with redistricting right around the corner and important issues like
transportation and increased education funding.

Links to our candidates are found on this page and on the
links page.

Our Gubernatorial candidate, Sen. Creigh Deeds, is running against Bob McDonnell. Our Lt. Governor
candidate is Jody Wagner running against the current Lt. Governor, Bill Bolling. Our Attorney General
candidate is Former Delegate Steve Shannon, running against Senator Ken Cuccinelli. National
Republicans are throwing their full weight and hopes into Bob McDonnell's campaign for Governor, as
well as their other candidates.

As in years past, the Democratic Party of Virginia is running the Coordinated Campaign field effort. The
campaign is already working on the ground in Hampton Roads. Look for news of an office opening soon
in Norfolk. The coordinated campaign works with the statewide candidates as well as our other Norfolk
Democratic candidates. It goes without saying that without your support and involvement, our party
would be but a shadow of its current strength.

We welcome you to the Norfolk City Democratic Committee (NCDC) web site.  We hope that you will
use this web site as a tool to find out more information about Democratic activism in Norfolk and find
useful links to help you get connected with Democratic campaigns and events.  Virginia is turning blue
and we need your help to continue to make this happen!
